Today our second graders had an exciting time visiting
SVSU’s Ryder Center for motor development day! Throughout their time at SVSU,
the students ran around the track, learned about healthy habits, and played
games with SVSU students.
Our second graders started out learning about healthy eating
habits by creating a plate with the four main food groups: vegetables, grains,
protein, and fruit. Next, students discovered how they should be brushing and
flossing their teeth by experimenting with a model of teeth and a large
toothbrush. After that, students learned about germs and how they should be
dressing for each season of the year. With time left over from these
activities, students enjoyed running around the track and racing each other.
The last half of the day was especially engaging for
students because they had the opportunity to play games with the SVSU students.
Students participated in activities such as hitting a soft baseball with a bat,
catching and kicking balls, and leaping from one spot to the next.
By far, the end of the field trip was the best part of the
day. Students loved having the opportunity to use the parachute with the SVSU
students. It could easily be seen that students were happily exhausted by the
end of the field trip and we are extremely grateful to SVSU for hosting this
exciting day for our second graders.
A big thank you to those parents and grandparents who
volunteered to drive our second graders to SVSU today. Thank you!
